(Madisonville, KY) – Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville’s Security Department has been named an International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Program of Distinction.
“Achieving this recognition is no small feat. It serves as a powerful testament to their leadership and the team’s dedication to excellence,” stated Anthony Pope, President of IAHSS.
“By meeting these rigorous standards, they have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to establishing a high-level foundation of healthcare security education as a core pillar of their training program. The department’s hard work elevates the profession and ensures a safer environment for patients, staff, and the community. We are proud to count the Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville Security team among the elite group of facilities that hold this distinction,” added Pope.

To be considered for the IAHSS Program of Distinction, 70% of security officers must hold a Basic, Advanced, or Supervisor certification issued through course completion and testing through the IAHSS.
“I am proud to say 100% of our officers are certified,” stated Director of Safety & Security Ryan Burke.
“Additionally, the Security Director must be a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), the highest level of certification for healthcare security professionals. This designation is an achievement of the entire department and a commitment to the organization that we maintain a high standard of competency, training, and professionalism. To maintain this recognition, the department must maintain this level of excellence and renew every two years,” added Burke.
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville is among just 83 hospitals internationally to receive this honor and is currently the only hospital in Kentucky to be listed.
