Chris Toler, MD, MBA, MSCP named Chief Medical Officer for Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville

Madisonville, KY (Feb. 13, 2026) - Chris Toler, MD, MBA, MSCP has been named the newest Chief Medical Officer for Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville effective March 1, 2026.

Dr. Toler is an OB/GYN by training and has spent more than 20 years providing direct patient care as well as business leadership within integrated health systems and a digital health environment. He brings an extensive background in leading large-scale, complex, transformational projects with physician leadership and engagement.

“We are very fortunate to add Dr. Toler to our leadership team,” said hospital president Alisa Coleman. “Dr. Toler is an assertive strategic thinker with an established record of excellence. He will bring important clinical integration experience as well as a broad understanding of digital technologies needed to extend care beyond our facilities enabling better outcomes and experiences for our patients. He will also be a valuable part of our OB/GYN team by providing on-call support for them,” added Coleman.

Dr. Toler is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he also completed his OB/GYN Residency. He also holds his Physician Executive MBA from Auburn University. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Certified Provider by The Menopause Society.

Prior to this role, Dr. Toler has held CMO and Senior VP roles at Lumeris in St. Louis, MO, the market leader in value-based care managed services for health systems, health plans, and providers. He is the co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer of Iron Health in Washington DC whose mission is to close the gaps in women’s healthcare through a tech-enabled platform and network of multidisciplinary providers. Dr. Toler held numerous physician leadership roles at Owensboro Health from 2006 until 2017 and currently serves as staff physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Toler replaces Dr. Mohan Rao who has served as Chief Medical Officer for the past five years prior to his retirement.
