MADISONVILLE, KY – A home away from home – that’s what the new Parent Care Rooms in Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville’s Maternity Care department are designed to feel like. The two rooms, which were made possible through the combined efforts of McEnaney Family McDonald’s, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley, and the Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville Foundation, will offer a comfortable place for parents with a newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to rest and recover.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley is thrilled to be able to offer this much-needed respite space for new moms and dads, providing a comforting environment where families can recharge while remaining close to their little ones,” says Theresa Floyd-Maas, CEO at RMHC Ohio Valley. “This would not be possible without the remarkable generosity of our community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed. Special thanks to those who supported us through round-up donations – your kindness truly makes a difference in the lives of families during such pivotal moments. Together, we are fostering a space of healing and hope.”
The new Parent Care rooms are designed to look and feel like apartments rather than the stereotypical hospital rooms both inside and out, featuring warm lighting and homey décor. With Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville serving a rural, widespread area, these new rooms will be especially beneficial for those who would typically have to travel to visit their babies in the NICU.
“I think the best part is, especially in this economic environment, the generosity of the people of Hopkins County made this possible,” says Chris McEnaney, Owner/Operator for McEnaney Family McDonald’s. “We started our round-up program in late 2022. Since then, the two locations in Hopkins County have combined to raise nearly $250,000 that will benefit families here.”
Once babies are released from the NICU, parents will also have the option to stay overnight with their baby in the hospitality room to help ease the transition from life in the hospital to life back at home with their newborn.
