The volunteer program at Baptist Health Deaconess has been providing hospitality and support to our patients, guests, and hospital staff for over sixty years. Over 600,000 volunteer hours have been logged. The program is focused on service to others.
Volunteers currently serve in a variety of ways including at information desks, as escorts, in waiting areas, in the mother-baby unit, providing clerical assistance, and more.
Volunteers sponsor book sales, bake sales, and other events periodically. Funds raised provide scholarships for allied health students at Madisonville Community College, heart hugger pillows for heart surgery patients, memory boxes for families who experience the loss of an infant, and other special projects in cooperation with the Baptist Health Deaconess Foundation.
To become a Volunteer, please complete an application. The links below will take you to the online application. Once the application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted to discuss your interest in volunteering and what position and schedule would be best for you. All new Volunteers must complete the pre-volunteer requirements. These include a TB test, a background check, and completion of the hospital orientation program. The Volunteer Director will guide you through the process.
For students, aged 15 to 19, we offer a Summer Student Volunteer Program. The program is eight weeks long beginning in June and ending in July. Students have an opportunity to get community service hours, become familiar with health care opportunities, and get some firsthand experience. Applications for the summer program are accepted from April 1 until May 10. Students must attend an orientation prior to volunteering.
Our Volunteers take pride in their work and are committed to be valuable members of the Baptist Health Deaconess healthcare team. We look forward to you joining our team!
