Pediatric Therapy Care

Baptist Health Deaconess Pediatric Therapy Care, previously known as Team TheraPlay, offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to children ages birth to adolescents. Our staff has more than 80 years combined clinical experience and is dedicated to helping children with physical and cognitive delays experience achievement in developmental milestones.

Pediatric Rehab Care helps children experience their first words and steps. We help children learn how to tie their shoes and improve their hand writing skills. Most importantly, we help our parents grow stronger and happier children.

Certified Speech Language Pathologists specialize in verbal communication, non verbal communication, oral-motor skills, feeding/swallowing difficulties, pre-speech social skills, as well as disorders of voice and fluency.

Occupational Therapy staff specialize in assisting children develop abilities to engage in everyday skills and activities. Activities include playing, self care, learning, socialization and sensory processing.

Physical Therapy staff specialize in assisting children develop and enhance their mobility to allow active participation at home, school and in their community.

Pediatric Rehab Care also has therapists to assist in evaluating the child's need for adaptive equipment, such as walker, braces, standers, wheelchairs and specialized car seats.

At Pediatric Rehab Care, our motto is "It is the little things that matter," and it is our promise to treat you child as if they were our own. Special Therapies for Newborns and Premature Babies
We proudly serve the very special needs of newborn babies. We are the only orthopedic provider in the area to offer specialized therapies for newborns and infants.

Some of the conditions that we diagnose and treat include:

  • Prematurity
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Chromosomal abnormalities (such as Down’s Syndrome)
  • Neonatal abstinence syndrome (babies born dependent on addictive opiate drugs)

Our services for newborns and infants start in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and continue to an outpatient setting. We offer diagnostic testing and screening for at-risk infants and provide many different services, including:

  • Education to parents about developmental milestones
  • Specialized medications
  • Referrals to specialty clinics
  • Braces and orthotics
  • Adaptive equipment (such as gait trainers and bath seats)

Our early intervention and diagnosis for newborns can help prevent further complications and provide at-risk infants a path to greater developmental success. The earlier the intervention, the better the results.
